ACE Global Day

The ACE Group of companies, a global leader in insurance and reinsurance, observed its 20^th anniversary by hosting a Global Day of Service on November 7, 2005, during which ACE employees in offices around the world contributed their time and energy to local community service projects. ACE Hong Kong selected Ronald McDonald House (“RMH”, a worldwide non-profit organization that provides temporary shelter for very sick children and their families) as the charity to commemorate ACE Group’s 20^th anniversary.

On Monday November 7, 2005, a beautiful day, cloudy but with little sunshine, some 30 ACE employees set off in the morning by bus for the RMH. Divided into 5 teams, we did general cleaning of the home’s interior, weeding the gardens, and sanding down & painting hand rails in the back & front yards. In between work, we had a delightful lunch together with some children and their parents and handed out gifts to the children. Furniture, toys & games, and other items were also donated to RMH as per their Wish List. We departed RMH in late afternoon - dirty, tired but happy.

We were all pleased because we had done something meaningful for the underprivileged, an initiative which was noble yet thoroughly enjoyable. It was also a good introduction to community work for those who had not participated in such activities before. Having experienced the joy and satisfaction of helping the less fortunate, many are prepared to lend a helping hand again in the future.

ACE Annual Dinner 2005
ACE Hong Kong Y2005’s annual dinner was held on December 29, 2005 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wanchai. The Theme for the Dinner was “60’s & 70’s”. Employees and their spouses of about 110 people attended the Dinner. Professionals were employed to handle the lighting and music that enhanced the atmosphere of the Theme for the Dinner. We had games and dance. The highlights for the night were the best-dressed contest and most of all it was the lucky draw with big prizes. That was an exciting Dinner party.
